Santa, fair, food, music, sleigh & lights

He's making a list, and checking it twice; He's gonna find out, who's naughty or nice, Santa Claus is coming to town!

There was excitement and laughter as Santa Claus arrived in Chislehurst Town for the Christmas Bonanza Fair and Lights parade. The day was filled with musical performances from the All the Arts Theatre School, Glenlyn Academy, Popchoir and The Studio.

Disney princesses Elsa and Cinderella also dropped by Chislehurst to help Santa say hello to all the good boys and girls before he arrived at Alan de Maid to take to his Rotary sleigh to light up Chislehurst with his Christmas magic. So many people commented on how beautiful the High Street looked as the lights came on one by one. One excited little girl was heard saying “look, it’s magic, Santa is making the lights come on”.

Families lined the High Street to catch a glimpse of Santa, as children waved their flags and clackers from Spar Lower Camden. Many enjoyed the free balloon modeling with thanks to Danny Williams Plumbing and Collier-Stevens Surveyors, the atmosphere was simply buzzing.

As well as fantastic entertainment for the children, adults were seen enjoying music outside the Queens Head, getting eveyone into the festive spirit as Phoebe Rose filled the air with Christmas carols.

There were also some amazing stalls at the fair including 5 stalls from our very own Chislehurst Farmers Market, plenty to help us complete a bit of Christmas shopping on the day. The High Street has some amazing gifts for family and friends so be sure to have a look around and be inspired this Christmas.

'There was a true sense of community spirit, everyone who volunteered were dedicated to making the day a success. As a business group we aim to work together to create a thriving and vibrant Chislehurst, thank you to all who came and those that took part to make it possible, we hope you enjoy the lights!’  Clare Herriot, CEO for the Chislehurst Business Group.

Once again the Chislehurst Christmas Bonanza was an amazing success thanks to the 123 businesses in the Chislehurst Business Group who fund the Christmas lights each year. Nugget Design also very kindly prepared all the publicity for the event free of charge. I think that all of these lovely people are going to have a top place on Santa’s ‘nice’ list!
