Mead Road Infant School has a long and interesting history, having been in existence in various guises as a full Primary School as well as an Infant School since the early part of the 20th century.
The school enjoys delightful surroundings. The main building is an elegant, locally listed Victorian house called Pennthorpe. The ‘new’ building (2000) comprises a hall, classroom, cloakroom and toilets. A kitchen was added to this building in 2010.
The school is fortunate in having extensive and very attractive grounds, which provide a stimulating environment for learning and physical activity. There is a wildlife area in the grounds and also raised beds containing a herb and lavender garden.
Mead Road Infant School prides itself on being able to provide a centre of excellence for early years education, in a caring, secure environment, where each child can attain his/her personal best.
There is just one class for each year group, so they are able to get to know not just the children but their families as well. This is one of the things that make the school so distinctive and popular.
