Crowds come out for the Christmas Lights Switch On!

On Saturday 29th November between 3 and 5pm, crowds came out in force for the annual Lights Event on Chislehurst High Street, held on the refurbished forecourt of the Queens Head Pub.

Nathan and the team at the Queens Head served delicious mulled wine and Father Christmas plus his 2 helpers; Claire and Lizzie greeted all the children with a complimentary candy cane each. The centre of Chislehurst was filled with the joyful sounds of children singing and crowds enjoyed peformances from All the Arts Theatre School, The Studio, Glenlyn Academy and the Rock Choir. Big thanks to Michael Fricker from Rock Choir who provided all the AV equipment free of charge.

Children also received a free finger torch, glow band or glow stick and the lights went on at 4.15 as Father Christmas counted down.

The Christmas Lights in Chislehurst are sponsored entirely by the Chislehurst Business Group - made up of 80 local shops and businesses.

This is one of three free events Visit Chislehurst has hosted on the High Street this year. Others were the Eggsplorer and the other was the recent Pumpkin Hunt.

Clare Herriot, 2gether Charity Shop Manager and the CEO of the Chislehurst Business Group said

'Thank you to all those who came to our annual lights event on Saturday, there was a big turn out and a great atmosphere. Thank you also to those who helped make it happen and of course to the 80 businesses who sponsor our lights.  I love the way things are progressing in Chislehurst - I do believe Visit Chislehurst is a tool to bring the community together and shoppers to our High Street.'
