Today, in the autumn sunshine, thousands of local residents joined together for Remembrance Sunday. Many attended the local church service at St Nicholas Church, and many others in BR7, others joined the parade that began in Chislehurst High Street. This was organised by Chislehurst Remembers, a team of volunteers who have come together to organise the Armistice Day Parade, arranging with local organisations, like Visit Chislehurst for donations for road closures and safety measures. It was wonderful to see so many families, friends and dog walkers joining together for the parade up the High Street to meet at Centre Common for the service of Remembrance, given by the Rev’d Rachel Curley. Wreaths were laid by local groups, and individuals, all who wanted to take a moment and remember those who had given their life in service. Simon Moore, Visit Chislehurst Director, laid a wreath on behalf of Visit Chislehurst.
Remembrance Sunday 2025 is a time to reflect and remember all who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. This year marks 80 years since the end of World War II and during the year we have seen celebrations take place throughout the country for Victory over Europe and over Japan. We will never forget and throughout the world today our national service men and women continue to serve to keep us safe. We will always remember and give thanks.
