Benefits of Outdoor Exercise in relation to Mental Health

There I’ve said it!

Does it conjure up visions of a Drill Sergeant standing over you screaming out for more press ups?

Well you couldn’t be more further from the truth!

Here at Bootcamp.uk.com we believe in helping our clients in their fitness journey and over the 8 years of operating in Chislehurst, have helped hundreds of clients achieve their goals.

That wouldn’t have been achieved by an intimidating Instructor.

We all know the aesthetics of losing weight and toning up by carrying out an exercise programme but are you aware of the incredible benefits for mental health?

Anxiety and depression, a lack of confidence can be very debilitating and exercise can certainly help.  Exercising outdoors and within a group most certainly will.

When you exercise, your body releases chemicals called endorphins. These endorphins interact with the receptors in your brain that reduce your perception of pain.  Endorphins also trigger a positive feeling in the body, accompanied by a positive and energising outlook on life.

Carrying out exercise outside in the fresh air, in green spaces, offers the perfect antidote to the stresses of modern living. For some it’s the only encounter with nature and should never be underestimated.

People are getting bored with the sterile environment of a gym and are starting to realise that training in an outdoor environment has many health benefits that a gym just doesn’t offer. Couple that with training in a group environment and it’s a win-win situation!

Team bonding is paramount. Every workout is different and clients that feared exercise, didn’t have the confidence, have made close friendships because they are all experiencing the same fatigue and pull together.

Help and motivate each other.

The gym can be a lonely and daunting place for the beginner but at Bootcamp everyone is made to feel welcome and it’s a personal training experience in a group environment.

And that closeness extends beyond Bootcamp. Attendees have formed close bonds and enter running events including Obstacle Courses and have organised social events outside of Bootcamp.

So to recap –

Reduced stress ✅
Wards off anxiety and depression ✅
Boosts self esteem ✅
Improves feeling of well being ✅
Creates friendships and a sense of belonging ✅

So now that summer is finally here why not come and see us at the Chislehurst Recreation Ground. We are there most mornings and you will be made to feel very welcome by the friendly Boot campers, more so the resident Drill Sergeant!
